NY Senator Michael Gianaris — Now that New York’s state legislature is back in the capital for a special session, Senator Gianaris is calling on fellow lawmakers to remain in Albany until they have a real plan to address the crisis at the MTA.

NY Senator Brad Hoylman — Senator Hoylman, whose district has some of the slowest bus service in New York City, has requested an audit from the state comptroller to review the reliability of the bus network.

Hackensack, NJ City Council — A parking lot will be sold to a developer and converted to a mixed use building thanks to the council’s unanimous approval.

Meriden, CT — The central Connecticut city — which will soon be served by commuter rail — is putting a downtown street on a road diet.

I.S. 151 students — In partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation, eighth graders at Lou Gehrig School in the South Bronx created banners reminding motorists to drive safely near schools.

Losers

A Train riders — Thirty-four straphangers were injured, and many more had to evacuate on foot through subway tunnels, after an unsecured piece of rail caused a downtown A train to derail near 125th Street.

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano — Nassau’s N88 bus route only operates on weekends, so during the week, Jones Beach is reserved for drivers.

NY Senator Jose Peralta — By defecting to the Independent Democratic Caucus, Senator Peralta, a Democrat, helped Republicans defeat his speed camera bill.
