Join us tonight to celebrate the region’s biggest and boldest recent transportation initiatives! Tickets are available online or at the door.
We are excited to honor New Jersey Senator Loretta Weinberg and Senator Robert Gordon, CTfastrak and AECOM.
Senator Loretta Weinberg and Senator Robert Gordon have been leaders on the Port Authority Bus Terminal replacement project. Senators Weinberg and Gordon have held extensive hearings and appeared numerous times before the Port Authority Board of Directors to address the inadequacies of the current bus terminal. Their leadership has resulted in tremendous steps towards constructing a much-needed new bus terminal and transforming the Port Authority into a more transparent, accountable bi-state agency as it was intended to be.
CTfastrak, Connecticut’s bus rapid transit system, boasts the region’s first true bus rapid transit corridor, a 9.4-mile bus-only guideway between Hartford and New Britain. Since it launched in March of 2015, CTfastrak has served more than four million riders, providing convenient and affordable transportation to jobs, schools, health care and local businesses. Plans are in the works to expand the system east of the Connecticut River, while momentum for transit-oriented development along the route is picking up steam.
AECOM, the international planning and engineering firm, has been an innovator on major transit projects in New York and around the globe. AECOM is, as the company motto goes, quite literally “built to deliver a better world,” and that’s especially true in New York. AECOM has been involved in some of the most transformative recent transit projects in New York City and the metropolitan area. From the Second Avenue Subway and the Long Island Rail Road “Right Track” project, to Moynihan Station and the Northeast Corridor, AECOM leads amidst challenges facing the region’s transportation network.
