New Jersey Assemblymember John Wisniewski — Assemblymember Wisniewski called out Governor Christie for failing to address the looming bankruptcy of the Transportation Trust Fund.

Brooklyn Community Board 6 District Manager Craig Hammerman — Hammerman proposed a study assessing the costs associated with arresting transit fare beaters, suggesting the money could instead be used to subsidize fares for low-income riders.

Boston City Council President Michelle Wu — Wu called for protected bike lanes as a cost-effective way to keep bicyclists safe and to ease the city’s transportation crunch.

Motivate — Citi Bike riders broke yet another daily ridership record and hit 30 million rides yesterday. Breaking such records may become the new normal for Motivate, once 140 new stations are installed in Manhattan and Brooklyn later this summer.

Camden pedestrians and bicyclists — Camden residents will have an easier time accessing the Ben Franklin Bridge, thanks to $1.2 million in grants to build bike and handicap ramps.

LOSERS

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie — Governor Christie’s order to halt non-essential road work could tack on an extra 10 percent to total project costs. Transit riders also will be hit the hardest by the executive order: around $2.7 billion of the $3.5 billion worth of the stalled projects is for New Jersey Transit.

New York Assemblymember Nick Perry — Assemblymember Perry introduced a bill to let drivers use New York City’s bus-only lanes between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Connecticut Bond Commission — The commission approved borrowing to fund $1.2 million feasibility study on widening Interstate 95.

The planet — June 2015 through May 2016 was the hottest 12-month period in recorded history, breaking the record for the ninth time in a row.
