WINNERS

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter — Mayor Nutter has called for a study to implement a car-free zone in the city’s central business district after residents reacted positively to Philly’s traffic ban during Pope Francis’s visit last month.

New Haven Department of Transportation — Thanks to the agency’s emphasis on traffic calming measures and bike facilities,  2.8 percent of New Haven commuters travel by bike–the fifth highest rate in the Northeast–while 13 percent travel by foot.

New York City Councilmember Ydanis Rodriguez — Last Monday, Councilmember Rodriguez pushed for toll reform and reducing car ownership as part of a citywide transportation vision.

Boulder, CO — The city removed Folsom Street’s protected bike lane just three months into its year-long trial after drivers complained about 60 to 90 second longer travel times along the mile-long corridor.
