Save the date for New Yorkers for Active Transportation’s (NY4AT) lobby day in Albany on March 13. NY4AT is a newly-formed coalition dedicated to working with stakeholders to assure equitable funding for non-motorized transportation, including complete streets, community multi-use trails and infrastructure to support increased bicycling and walking in New York’s cities, villages and towns.

The day will start at a Legislative Breakfast, from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Fort Orange Club. The national advocacy group Transportation for America will kick off the program with Making the Most of MAP-21, a presentation designed to help lawmakers and sustainable transportation advocates ensure that states take advantage of the new federal transportation legislation, even though it cut dedicated funding for pedestrian and bicycling infrastructure.

After breakfast, we’ll walk half a block to the Capitol and Legislative Office Building to meet with policymakers to make the case for continued funding for active transportation.

Don’t miss your chance to let your representatives and other key elected officials know how important trails, sidewalks, bike lanes, complete streets and safe routes to school programs are to the economy, quality of life and health of your community.
