The MTA’s $68 billion capital budget for 2025-2029 is a necessary step toward ensuring the New York metro area can meet its climate and resiliency goals. This plan is critical for modernizing our transit infrastructure, enhancing system resiliency, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions—all essential components of a sustainable future for the region.
However, in order to fund this crucial program, we need congestion pricing now. Delaying its implementation would not only undermine the capital plan but also hinder New York’s ability to tackle the climate crisis. We urge Governor Hochul to reverse her pause and make congestion pricing a reality in order to secure a sustainable, resilient future for New York.
