2016 will be a big year for transportation in Albany.
As Governor Cuomo’s transportation announcements come in, now is the time to plan to make your voice heard on the importance of funding active transportation. On Tuesday, February 2nd, Tri-State, New Yorkers for Active Transportation (NY4AT) and New York Public Transit Association will be hosting an Advocacy Day to discuss all things bike, ped and transit-related.
Join us. Register Now!
This is the opportunity to tell your state senators and assembly members that all New Yorkers–regardless of age or ability–need access to trails and infrastructure that encourage safe and healthy transportation options.
It’s easy. It’s fun. It’s effective.
Here’s how to get involved:
- Register with us.
- Join us for a planning call on Tuesday, January 26 at which we will provide background for our legislative visits and make sure you know what to expect on Advocacy Day. Participation is not required, but we strongly encourage you to join the call.
- Come to the Concourse at the Empire State Plaza in Albany on the morning of Tuesday, February 2.
On Advocacy Day, you’ll join a team led by experienced advocates. As you arrive, we’ll introduce you to your team members and review the day’s schedule over coffee. Then it’s off to make your voice heard. Team leaders will assist you in making the case for biking and walking and transit in visits with legislators.
There is no cost to participate, but registration is required. Prior to Advocacy Day, we will email you your legislative appointments, team assignments, background information and talking points. We’ll also send a detailed agenda, a meeting room location and information about the planning call.
Can’t make it to Albany on February 2?
Don’t worry, you can still make your voice heard. Simply send us an email and/or participate in the planning call on January 26, and we will provide you with the advocacy materials you need to host an in-district visit with your legislator.
