New York City Department of Transportation Policy Director Jon Orcutt announced today that he will leave his post after seven years with the department. Orcutt was with Tri-State for 13 years before joining NYC DOT, first as associate director from 1994 until 2003, and executive director from 2003 until 2007. Over the past 25 years, Jon has been widely credited for jumpstarting a multi-modal transportation shift at city and state transportation agencies in the tri-state region, but particularly in New York City during the Bloomberg administration.

Current Tri-State Executive Director Veronica Vanterpool said, “The transportation advocacy community was proud to have one of its fiercest advocates join NYC government. Knowing that Jon was working behind the scenes on transportation issues meant bold things were going to happen. The Times Square pedestrian plaza, Select Bus Service, the Sheridan Expressway redesign, and Citi Bike are the legacy examples. Jon was our bulwark within government. His absence will be felt.”
