Nassau County Legislators Judy Jacobs and Denise Ford — In a welcome act of bipartisan support for Nassau County bus riders, Democratic Legislator Judy Jacobs introduced a budget amendment to add $4 million to the Nassau Inter-County Express (NICE) bus system and Republican Denise Ford expressed a willingness to incorporate aspects of the amendment into final budget negotiations.

NYC Mayoral Candidates Bill de Blasio and Joe Lhota — Both candidates expressed skepticism about the midtown pedestrian plazas in Times and Herald Squares in their latest debate, despite the fact those particular pedestrian plazas (and others across the city) have far higher approval ratings than both of their candidacies.
Pedestrians and cyclists in New York State — Twenty-seven percent of those who died on New York’s roads in 2012 were walking or biking to their destinations (the highest percentage of any state), but the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is proposing to cut spending on bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure by 40 percent over the next four years.
