Next Friday, Tri-State, in collaboration with U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, and numerous local advocacy organizations, is hosting a bus rapid transit symposium on Long Island.
The event, Building Regional Ties: Bolstering Long Island’s Economy and Mobility Through Bus Rapid Transit, will feature Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone, ITDP U.S. and Africa Director Annie Weinstock, and a panel of experts on BRT systems throughout the tri-state region. The panel will be moderated by Vision Long Island’s Eric Alexander and include NYCDOT’s Eric Beaton, NJ Transit’s RJ Palladino, and the Hartford Capitol Region Council of Governments’ Lyle Wray.
The symposium will take place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on October 5, 2012 in the Media Room of Suffolk County’s H. Lee Dennison Building, 100 Veterans Memorial Highway, in Hauppauge, New York. Registration begins at 8:30am. The event is free of charge. Light breakfast will be provided.
