Tomorrow, April 25, Nassau County’s Bus Transit Committee will host a public meeting beginning at 4p.m. At the event, officers will be elected, the committee will “attend to other organizational issues,” and Veolia, which assumed control over the county’s bus system on January 1, will deliver a report.
The meeting is not listed on NICE Bus’ website, and its subject and format are unclear to riders and advocates.
The event will be held at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building, 1550 Franklin Avenue, Mineola, NY.
Regionalism is dangerous to state sovereignty. It starts with inter state transportation. Then it bleeds into economic zones which need emergency responders which need cross jurisdictional authorizations. Then before you know it anybody you may have elected is neither in charge nor accountable for the “region”. Then come the laws over which you have no control or voting power over.
Once the states lose their sovereignty all hope is lost because frankly our federal government is for sale. Look up Democrats Against UN Agenda 21.
This Nice bus company is not niose at to us. They make our commute even longer and more expensive and more unconvinient. I commute from Woodhaven to Port Washington and it’s 2 hours at least. Now since the N23 doest go to Mineola when I’m need at 8;30am, and when I go home at 7pm, I have to take the peak train from Jamaica to Woodside and P.W, which coasts me $11. Going back the same way, even if I take the inconvinient long Q53 bus ride, it coasts $7.25, thats $18.25/day, plus the weekly Metro card $29. I spend more than $400/month for commute and 4hours/day on trains, bus, subway!!!
Its ridiculous. The MTA and the NICE makes it impossiple to go to work.
Why the N23 doesnt stop in Mineola, as always has been? Most people take the train to or from Mineola. We need that STOP!
While I was no big fan of the MTA they were at least trying to drag LI Bus into the 21st century. NICE, Veolia and Nassau County politicians DO NOT give a damn about the riding public. Get used to it, money talks and bullsh*t walks or has to figure out another way to get there. It is only the beginning, wait until Veolia goes to the county for more operating money and gets turned down. Maintenance and service will suffer.
Paul says “Maintenance and service will suffer”, if it gets any worse, they will be sending out buses that you have to push Fred Flintstone style. This pathetic excuse for a company is reeking havoc on our commute(s). First they screw up all the runs, then every day you are either on a bus that breaks down, wait for a bus that does not show up because it is broken down, or have to pick up another buses passengers because it is broken down. NICE, right?
