Advocacy Alerts

Stop NJ Transit Fare Hikes and Service Cuts! (NJ): NJ Transit riders are facing a 25% fare increase and cuts to every train line and buses across the state. Elected officials need to hear about the economic and environmental harm this will cause.

Stop Cuts to Long Island Bus (NY): Ride Long Island Bus? County and state leaders need to hear that deep service cuts, threatened for the third time this year, are unacceptable. Learn more and ask your representatives to stop cuts to the bus system.

Support a Safe Passing Law For Cyclists (NY): Legislation to require drivers to give three feet of clearance when passing cyclists will soon be introduced in the New York State Legislature by State Assemblymember Amy Paulin. This important bill can save lives – Learn more and ask your representatives to sign on here.

Tell NYSDOT to Remove the Sheridan (NY): NYSDOT is conducting an environmental review for the Sheridan Expressway, a lightly used highway spur in the Bronx. One of those options would remove the Sheridan, opening up 28 acres for open space, affordable housing, and development — and would improve truck access to the important Hunts Point Market. Sign the South Bronx River Watershed Alliance’s petition here and tell NYSDOT Commissioner Astrid Glynn you support a Sheridan teardown.

Stop New Jersey’s Wasteful Road Widenings (NJ): New Jersey is planning to spend $3.3 billion to widen the NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway. These projects won’t solve congestion and will harm the environment — and those billions of dollars could be better spent on fixing existing roads and investing in transit. Tell your elected officials that this isn’t a smart plan by sending them a letter here!
