Wallingford, Connecticut—Bus riders in Wallingford could soon see improved service if the town successfully petitions the Connecticut Department of Transportation for route changes recommended by a recent transit analysis.

Tech-savvy subway riders—New Yorkers using Google Maps for subway directions will now see scheduled service changes when planning out routes.

Long Island Bus Riders Union—The Long Island bus advocacy group released an eye-opening study [pdf] that sheds light on NICE Bus’ (non)compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act transit regulations.

The City of Burlington, New Jersey—Burlington law enforcement has won state funds for a “pedestrian safety detail” that could go to increased traffic safety enforcement, driver and pedestrian education, or both.

Losers

Quality of life in Bergen County—The American Dream Meadowlands megamall project took a step forward late last week, as the developer received several DEP permits for the site. Yet questions remain about the project, since its developer has still failed to complete an adequate traffic study and has made no public commitment to funding the “tremendous upgrade in transit opportunities” it promised yesterday.

The C train—The beleaguered subway line has been named the worst in New York City for the fourth consecutive year.
