Reminder: Tappan Zee Meetings Today and Tomorrow

Lower Hudson Valley residents continue to ask questions about the state’s replacement plans for the Tappan Zee Bridge, and rightfully so. The lack of a solid financing strategy, an inadequate transit component, and questionable cost estimates for bus rapid transit have all attracted attention among residents and policymakers.

At community meetings tonight and tomorrow, stakeholders will finally get a chance to seek answers from Cuomo administration officials in person—the Journal-News reports that New York State Thruway Authority Director Tom Madison and Secretary to the Governor Larry Schwartz will both attend the events. These meetings present an opportunity to let New York State know that the Lower Hudson Valley demands transit in the I-287 corridor.

The first meeting will be held today at 6pm at Purchase College’s Performing Arts Center (735 Anderson Hill Road in Purchase). The second will be held tomorrow at 6pm at the Rockland Community College Cultural Arts Theatre (145 College Road in Ramapo). If you plan on attending either one, remember to RSVP.
