Reminder: LI Bus “People’s Hearing” is Wednesday

Long Island Bus riders, students, and various other groups are hosting a “People’s Hearing” on the privatization of Long Island Bus, since the county doesn’t appear to be holding hearings of its own and much of the plan remains unclear. The hearing will take place at the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island, 38 Old Country Road, Garden City, NY on Wednesday, August 31st at 6:30 pm. (See directions here.)

Anyone interested in supporting LI Bus in Nassau County should come out and let elected officials know why Nassau County needs good transit service, what it means to you and what a privatized bus system will do to your wallet. Attendees will also write state and county officials calling for an affordable, convenient, and well-maintained bus system.

Strong attendance is expected, including several Nassau County Legislators. Advocates have also extended an invitation to County Executive Ed Mangano and Comptroller George Maragos. Contact Ryan Lynch at rlynch@tstc.org for more information.
