Join Us For NY Earth Day Lobby Day 2011!

Tri-State will be participating in the 21st annual Earth Day Lobby Day in Albany, New York on May 2, from 9:30am to 3:30pm in the State Capitol Building.  Hear from state government and environmental leaders, learn about environmental bills that are pending in Albany, and lobby your state lawmakers on environmental issues that are important to you. This year’s Earth Day Lobby Day will focus on making our communities more pedestrian-friendly through a statewide complete streets law, and on other important environmental issues such as expanding solar energy, curbing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting watersheds from the dangers of hydrofracking.

Join hundreds of environmentalists from across the state in advocating for measures to protect our air, water, land and health.   No lobbying experience needed!  This event is free and open to the public, but you must preregister to attend. Sign up now for Earth Day Lobby Day by clicking here!

Earth Day Lobby Day 2011 is being co-sponsored by Audubon New York, Citizens Campaign for the Environment, Environmental Advocates of New York, New York Interfaith Power and Light the New York Public Interest Research Group, Sierra Club, The Nature Conservancy, and other organizations.

How about this for a cool, fun and useful to do this Earth Day…. Hug!

Hug It Forward (hugitforward.com) is a 501c3 non-profit which has a new web site aimed at both desktop and mobile devices. On the web site, you can “track your hugs” on a Google Map.

For each hug registered, sponsors donate $1 towards building a “bottle school” in Guatemala! Bottle schools are eco-friendly schools built using plastic bottles and other trash! 7 bottle schools have already been completed, with 3 more schools under way.

If there wasn’t already enough reason to share free hugs with your family and friends (and strangers), sign up today so that you can help kids in developing countries get the chance of an education AND save our planet – at the same time as spreading love through the power of hugs.
