Rollout of Better Bus on Manhattan’s East Side Starts Next Month

Select Bus Service is coming to Manhattan’s East Side in just a few weeks. This innovative package of bus improvements is planned for First and Second Avenues and includes new bus-only lanes, three-door buses, and an off-board fare payment system; together they should significantly improve the speed and reliability of the M15, New York City’s busiest bus route. The first official day of service is October 10.  A month later, this route will become one of the first in NYC to use video cameras to ticket drivers who block the lanes.

As part of the public outreach process, NYCDOT and the MTA are hosting two open houses.  The first is on Monday, Sept. 27 from 6:30-8:30pm at the Phillips Ambulatory Care Center’s Freeman Conference Room, 10 Union Square East, Manhattan.

The second is Tuesday, Sept. 28 from 6:30-8:30pm in the Ballroom of the Temple Israel of the City of New York, 112 East 75th Street. For more information, see this newsletter from the agencies.
