Help Us Raise $2,500 for Portable Computers!

In lieu of a year-end general donation, TSTC is asking for your help to raise $2,500 for small, light, portable computers to make our trips around the region much more productive. We want to ensure our supporters that every minute of our work day is being used to improve the transportation network throughout NY, NJ and CT.

To help, make a donation here.

The computers will allow us to watchdog state transportation spending decisions, write press releases, and draft reports while on buses, subways, and commuter trains.  We try to keep you informed and sort through detailed budgets, documents, and environmental reviews so you don’t have to. Portable computers would really help!

We know people are reading our blog. Readership is up 50% over last year and more and more news outlets are linking to our site.

TSTC won passage of a complete streets bill in Connecticut through media work, coalition advocacy, and working with elected officials.
TSTC won passage of a complete streets law in Connecticut through media work, coalition advocacy, and working with elected officials.

This year, TSTC has stopped transit service cuts and reduced fare hikes in Connecticut and New York and helped secure funding for a new rail tunnel under the Hudson River. We won new walking and biking programs in New York and Connecticut, worked with Newark communities to create safer streets for children, and helped cut truck idling in NYC. We called for smart, long-term solutions in lieu of widening New Jersey’s toll roads, won more balanced roadway designs on Long Island and in the Bronx, and catalyzed transportation reform in CT. We made the cases that buses are modern, 21st-century solutions to our transportation needs, with three symposiums on bus rapid transit.  In cooperation with the One Region Funders’ Group, we are helping towns promote transit oriented development across the region. On the federal level, we hired our first federal advocate who is fighting to bring more transit resources into our region.

We are a lean organization and stretch every dollar as far as we can. But we need your help to serve the region effectively in 2010. To help, make a donation here.

Thank you and happy holidays!
