EPL/Environment Advocates announced an addition to its annual Voter’s Guide this morning: the “Oil Slick” award, which will be bestowed on the “public figure who has done the most to put New York’s environmental health at risk.”

Among the candidates EPL/EA has chosen for the dubious distinction are some who played key roles in the recent debate on transit funding, including NYS Senate Majority Leader Pedro Espada, Jr. (D-Bronx) and Senator Hiram Monserrate (D-Queens). But the group wants the public to vote to decide who should win the prize. To learn more and to vote, click here.

The Voter’s Guide tracks state elected officials’ track records on environmental legislation, including transportation.  The 2009 version will be available in October. The 2008 edition is available here.
