The Regional Plan Association continues its excellent work mapping the MTA’s planned service cuts, which will occur if state elected officials can’t get behind a transit funding plan by the end of next week.
RPA has now divided its transit cut maps by legislative district, creating maps that show what the constituents of each state legislator will lose if the cuts go through.
Transit cuts within New York City are now in an interactive map form that allows NYC residents to input their addresses and see how they would be affected by MTA cuts.

Would zone fares be practical so that short distance trips would cost less and fares would be more related to the cost of providing service? Hamburg, Berlin and Munich have zone fares with subways (U-Bahns) and S-Bahns (commuter rail run like rapid transit) and tickets are good on all modes within the areas specified and times specified.
