Never mind the whole induced demand argument, the NJ Tpk needs **at minimum** one additional lane in each direction between Exits 6 & 9. Period. This is fact (you do not require engineering studies to prove this, just get caught in a 11PM traffic jam on a holiday weekend!), and it needs to be completed yesterday. Anyone who disputes this is simply in denial, as there is a chronic & severe bottleneck in this corridor.

Now, additional lanes beyond that? Well, we could argue the "facts" (notice the quotes)on projected volumes endlessly.

Volumes may be leveling-off (or even slightly dropping), but we all know that's due to the substantial increase in fuel costs.

I'm all for multi-modal transportation solutions, but do to pre-existing conditions or just plain neglect by the "powers that be", there are just some instances where we have no choice, and this is a perfect example.

If one project to increase road capacity "requires" connecting roads to increase their capacity, it would produce an endless chain of road-widening projects. If not, then something must be wrong with the logic of posts 1 and 2.

If the facts are so flimsy, the logic so contradictory, and the process so clearly not in accordance with the law, why not sue the state? It was done for Atlantic Yards. If TSTC has a legal team, it should be moving ahead with this. If not, there should be some movement to set one up. This type of process has been rubber stamped for years. If the law says they must analyze alternatives, then someone has to sue to uphold the law.

True.

It may do the same for I-95 through Philadelphia. Hopefully the planning there, such as the hopefully to-be-undergrounded segment will acknowledge that.

The connnection between I-95 and Pennsylvania Turnpike in Southeastern Pennsylvania in under construction. I-95 will be routed onto the PA and NJ Turnpikes and a new bridge over the Delaware River will be constructed. This will bring large amounts of traffic onto the NJ Turnpike. That alone will require NJ Turnpike to be widened.
