Last week NJDOT announced a paltry 3 Million dollars for bicycle projects across the state. The dollar amounts are so small that most of the grants will only pay for a single of the projects forcing sponsors to apply again and again to finish them. Furthermore of the projects are also too small to have any significant impact on a modal shift towards bicycling.

Compare that with 3 Billion for toll road expansion and a goal to reduce Vehicle Miles Traveled.

I'm FAR from a fan of NJ's Gov, or his plan; but "Growth" includes the movement of goods, meterials and services where mass-transit is simply not an option.
I think we need to make sure we remember how important it is to grow our economy so we can afford to invest in clean technologies.

I hope the Campaign took the River Line to downtown Camden. That thing is great.

Spot on the mark! Wider is NOT better! When you look at the foolish amount of pavement being added, and increases still "in the pipe" and compare it to money being spent in outlying counties to encourage or develop bus or rail transit patterns, I am amazed. What part of smart growth doesn't DOT get...oh yeah...the "smart" part!

Thanks Zoe and TSTC - you guys rock!
